1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the following Android applications and their advertising-supported services (together, the “Apps”):
- Tipply, a tip calculator with receipt scanning, calculation history and receipt-image sharing features.
- Flashlight: LED Torch & SOS, a lighting utility with LED torch, screen light, timer, SOS, strobe, Quick Settings tile, home-screen widget and related settings.
References to “we,” “our” or “us” mean the developer and operator of the Apps. If a section applies only to one App, that App is named.
2. Accounts and user content
The Apps do not require registration, login, a user account, a subscription or an in-app purchase. We do not ask you to provide your name, email address, phone number, payment-card details or precise location through the Apps.
Tipply processes receipt images on the device and does not upload the images or recognized receipt text to our servers. Flashlight does not take photos or record video. However, the Apps and their third-party SDKs may process online identifiers, device information, usage events, advertising information and diagnostics. Some privacy laws treat these data as personal data even when they do not directly identify you by name.
3. App-specific data and permissions
Tipply
- Calculations and history: bill amounts, tip settings, split details, categories and saved calculation records are processed and stored on your device to provide calculations and history.
- Receipt scanner: when you choose to scan a receipt, Tipply requests camera access and uses Google ML Kit text recognition on the device. Receipt frames, images and recognized receipt text are not uploaded by us or stored on our servers.
- Usage analytics: Tipply sends DataEye BI feature-use events that may include bill category, bill amount, tip amount and percentage, total and per-person amounts, split count, tax or rounding mode, number of OCR amounts detected, the amount selected from OCR, navigation and feature interactions, cumulative feature-use counts, and advertising events. These analytics values are not accompanied by receipt images, receipt text, a name, an email address or a payment-card number.
- Receipt images: a receipt image created by Tipply is saved to the system gallery only when you request it. A temporary image may be placed in app cache when you choose to share it; Android then passes it to the app or service you select, whose privacy practices apply.
- Local settings: theme, language, scan quota, ad-frequency state, reward or unlock state and similar preferences remain in app storage on your device.
Flashlight: LED Torch & SOS
- Camera permission: Android classifies control of the hardware flashlight under camera access. The App uses this permission only to switch the rear LED on or off and adjust torch strength on supported devices. It does not take photos, record video or retain camera content.
- Local settings: theme, language, haptic feedback, auto-light preference, timer preset, screen-light brightness and color temperature, strobe-warning acknowledgement and supported LED strength remain in app storage on your device.
- Device state: the App reads operational state needed to provide features, such as flash availability, supported torch strength and battery percentage. This information is used on the device to update controls and provide hardware-aware fallback.
4. Advertising, analytics and other services
The Apps are provided free of charge and may display banner, native, interstitial, app-open or rewarded ads. Depending on the App version, configuration, region and consent choices, the following providers may receive data directly through their SDKs:
| Provider | Role and data |
|---|---|
| Google (AdMob, Google Mobile Ads, UMP, Google Play services) | Advertising delivery, consent management, measurement, frequency controls, security and fraud prevention. Data may include IP address, advertising and app identifiers, coarse location inferred from IP, device and app details, ad impressions, interactions and diagnostics. |
| Google Firebase (Tipply) | Analytics and crash diagnostics, including app and installation identifiers, device and app details, timestamps, crash traces, session information and ad-impression or revenue events. |
| AppsFlyer (Tipply) | Install attribution, campaign measurement, ad-revenue measurement and fraud prevention. Data may include IP address, advertising or device identifiers, device details, installs, app opens, attribution data and ad-impression events. |
| DataEye BI (Tipply) | Product analytics and advertising-performance measurement. It receives app start/end/install events, the Tipply feature-use and calculation metrics listed in Section 3, device or SDK-generated identifiers, attribution properties and advertising events. |
| Mintegral and Moloco | Advertising partners available through AdMob mediation. When used to fill an ad request, they may process device and advertising identifiers, IP address, device and app information, coarse location, ad interactions, diagnostics and fraud signals under their own policies. |
| Google ML Kit text recognition (Tipply) | On-device OCR. The recognition model processes camera images locally; we do not send receipt images or recognized receipt text to Google through this feature. |
Provider availability and data practices can change. Linked provider notices explain their current practices, legal bases, retention and privacy controls. The Apps request internet access for ads, consent, analytics, attribution, diagnostics and related service communication; core flashlight controls and Tipply calculations can function without an internet connection.
5. How data is used
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Permissions, local content and device state | Provide the requested torch, receipt scanning, calculation, history, image creation, sharing and settings features. |
| Tipply calculation and feature-use analytics | Understand feature performance and usage, maintain scan or reward limits, improve the App and analyze aggregate product behavior. |
| Device, app and diagnostics data | Maintain compatibility, diagnose crashes and errors, secure the services and improve reliability. |
| Advertising and attribution data | Request, deliver and measure ads, manage frequency, attribute installs or campaigns, measure ad revenue and detect invalid activity or fraud. |
Where applicable law requires consent, participating SDKs are initialized or personalized advertising is used only in accordance with the consent choices made available in the App. In other cases, processing may rely on the need to provide a requested service or on legitimate interests such as security, diagnostics, fraud prevention and service improvement, subject to applicable law.
7. Data retention
Local preferences and Tipply calculation history remain on your device until you delete them, clear app storage or uninstall the relevant App. Images you save to the system gallery or send to another app may remain there after Tipply is uninstalled and must be deleted from that destination separately. Temporary share files may remain in Tipply's app cache until Android or the App clears them.
Third-party providers retain advertising, analytics, attribution and diagnostics data under their own policies, legal obligations, fraud-prevention needs and account settings. Retention varies by provider and data type.
8. Your choices and rights
- Deny or revoke camera permission in Android settings. Tipply's manual calculator remains available; Flashlight's screen light remains available.
- When shown, use the in-app privacy message or privacy-options entry to manage consent choices. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already completed before withdrawal.
- Use Android and Google advertising controls to manage ad personalization or reset or delete the advertising identifier where supported.
- Delete Tipply history in the App, or clear either App's local data through Android settings or uninstall it.
- Restrict network access using device-level controls. This may prevent ads and connected services from working, but core offline features remain available.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, withdrawal of consent or an appeal, and to lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority. Contact us to submit a request. We may need information reasonably necessary to identify the relevant App and verify the request.
9. Children's privacy
The Apps are general-audience utilities and are not directed to children under 13 or the equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction. We do not knowingly ask children to provide personal information directly. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information through an App, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
10. International processing
Advertising, analytics, attribution and technical providers operate in multiple countries. Their processing may transfer data across borders under applicable contractual or other legal safeguards. Privacy protections and data-access rights vary by jurisdiction.
11. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the nature of the data. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when an App's practices, features, legal requirements or service providers change. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate in-app, website or store notice.
